18th Episode of Growing Careers & Companies Podcast

Connecting Authentically Using Social Media, with Tressa LoVasco

Our guest today is Tressa LaVasco, founder of Lovasco Creative Group, and a CRE social media strategist and community connector. In this conversation, we talk about how she started her own business, how to be courageous as an entrepreneur, and the benefits of having a strong personal brand on social media.

Learn more about Tressa and her story at: www.growingcareersandcompanies.com.

“I have my family of coaches on my side. That allows me to make a mistake and know that I'm not really failing.”

02:02

Tressa studied entrepreneurship in college because she wanted to start her own business. Having many entrepreneurs in her family helped her to find the courage for her own journey. She became interested in commercial real estate 3 years ago, and started her own CRE-focused social media business last year.

Tressa’s advice for people who want to embark on an entrepreneurial journey is to dig down deep and find the courage. You’re never alone - there are people along the way who can help you.

“Yes, there's all these amazing trends on Instagram for the Reels, but not everybody's comfortable doing those - so find what's comfortable for you.”

07:54

Tressa is passionate about social media, and believes it’s a tool to communicate with more people than you previously believed possible. You can connect with your audience and develop a rapport with them so they know you, like you, and eventually trust you enough to do business with you.

Tressa explains how to be authentic and build a strong personal brand on social media. Her advice is to start posting and don’t be afraid to show your personality. It’s okay to post personal things, but be sure to keep your ideal client in mind. In the beginning, try to get into a posting rhythm and once you get used to social media, hire an expert to help you level up.

Self-care is essential for Tressa to find the balance between her work and personal life. She tries to be outside at least an hour every day, sets do-not-disturb on her phone after 7 PM, and listens to audiobooks. Her faith is also very important for her.

The Final 3 Questions

1. What is the lesson that has taken you the longest to learn?

Learning to allow others to step in and accepting help.

2. What are the 2 principles from the Growing Careers & Companies Framework that resonate the most with you?

Purpose and Authenticity. Goal setting is crucial because if you don’t have goals then you’re not going anywhere. You should have a purpose that is authentic and kind to guide you and help you set goals.

3. What do you hope others take away from your story?

Have courage and take the leap. Being able to help others and own your own business is worth the fear.
